The situation remains serious due to Iran’s attacks on the United Arab Emirates (UAE). So far, a total of 11 people have lost their lives and 178 people have been injured in these attacks that started on February 28, 2026. The dead and injured include citizens of many countries, in which a large number of Indian expatriates have also been affected. UAE officials are continuously responding to these attacks.
Who are the civilians killed and injured in the attacks?
The 11 people who lost their lives in the attacks include two UAE armed forces personnel, a Moroccan civilian contractor working with the armed forces and eight citizens from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Palestine and India. Apart from this, a total of 178 people have been injured. The injured included citizens of many nationalities, such as Emiratis, Indians, Egyptians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Filipinos. A report dated March 18, 2026, said that citizens of 29 different countries were injured, including people from countries like Sudan, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan.
Recent major incidents and rescue efforts
Many important incidents have happened in UAE in the last 24 hours. On March 28, 2026, a fire was reported in the Khalifa Economic Zone in Abu Dhabi following a missile and drone attack, in which five Indian citizens received minor injuries. UAE air defense systems successfully intercepted 20 ballistic missiles and 37 drones on the same day. On March 27, 2026, two people, including an Indian and a Pakistani, were killed and three others were injured by debris from a missile in Abu Dhabi. Since February 28, 2026, the UAE military has intercepted a total of 398 ballistic missiles, 1872 drones and 15 cruise missiles.
UAE government stance and international reaction
The UAE is calling these attacks “brutal and unprovoked Iranian aggression” and a “terrorist attack”, which is a violation of international law and the UN Charter. UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has said that the UAE is fully prepared to face all threats and maintains its full right to self-defense. He has talked about working with intelligence and restraint to prevent regional tension. The United Nations Human Rights Council has also passed a resolution condemning the Iranian attacks. Countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan have also condemned these attacks along with the UAE.
