Last week I sat in an e-auto in my city. During the conversation, it came to light that the driver used to work in a Gulf country (Arabia) a few years ago. I asked,
“Brother, why did you leave Arabia and come back?”
He smiled and said –
“Worked there for years, endured expenses, pressure, loneliness… but could not earn as much as expected. Then I thought – let me do something in my own city, earn less, but live a peaceful life.”
After this he bought an EV and started driving an auto. His logic surprised me even more.
I asked, “Petrol auto is cheaper, then why EV?”
He gave a very simple and logical answer –
“Petrol auto costs 2.9 lakhs and EV costs around 3.4 lakhs, yes 50 thousand more… But listen, the real game is not in purchase, but in daily savings.”
He revealed his full account:
🚗 I drive 120 km daily
Monthly expenditure on petrol: ₹12,000 + ₹2,000 maintenance
Cost of EV: Only ₹1,300 electricity bill + very low maintenance
That means direct savings of approximately ₹12,000 every month!
This savings in one year is more than ₹ 1.5 lakh!
Then he said –
“Even after spending my entire life in Arabia, I did not have that much savings. Today I am in my city with my family, feeling relaxed, and on top of that, both my earnings and savings are increasing month by month. The money which used to be burnt in petrol, is now coming to my house as savings. This is the real ‘freedom from slavery’.”
His last line touched my heart –
“Earning does not come from abroad, but from the mind.”
Today he has 2 EV autos, 2 drivers and monthly earning opportunities of up to lakhs of rupees — and the entire business is in the same city where he was born.
