The protesters gathered at the protest site raised banners and slogans and demanded an apology from Madani and action from the authorities on his remarks.

Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani on Saturday expressed concern over the judicial and social conditions of India and alleged that constitutional rights were being weakened and minority communities were being targeted.

Speaking at the national governing body meeting in Bhopal, Madani questioned the independence of the judiciary, citing cases like Babri Masjid and triple talaq. He said the Supreme Court should be considered “supreme” only if it follows the Constitution and the law. Madani said, “After the verdict on Babri Masjid, triple talaq and many other cases, it seems that the courts have been working under pressure from the government for the last few years… We have had many such examples in the past too, which have raised questions on the character of the courts… The Supreme Court deserves to be called supreme only when it follows the Constitution and upheld the law. If it does not do so, it will Does not deserve to be called ‘supreme’.”

He highlighted issues like bulldozer action, lynching and confiscation of Waqf properties, which are making Muslims feel unsafe. Madani also criticized anti-conversion laws, saying that these undermine the right to religious freedom.

He also commented on Vande Mataram, saying that the surrendered communities are “dead communities”, while the living communities face challenges. The Jamiat president further said, “…the dead communities do not fall into difficulties. They surrender. They will be asked to say Vande Mataram and they will immediately start doing so. This is the sign of the dead community. If it is the living community, then the morale will have to be boosted and they will have to face the situation boldly.” Will have to do…”
