How did this attack happen and where was the ship?

The incident occurred near Khor Al Zubair Port in Iraq’s maritime zone. At that time the ship was present in the ship-to-ship loading area at sea.

The IRGC has said in its statement that the ship was given a direct warning to stop and change course. When the ship ignored these warnings, action was taken.

According to reports, an Iranian suicide boat (a boat filled with explosives) or a drone was used in this attack. Iran says it was a ship belonging to the US military and was not following their security rules.

Death and rescue operations of Indian crew member

The people working on this ship included citizens of many countries. An Indian crew member died after being hit by the attack. This is a disturbing news for Indians working in Gulf countries.

Immediately after the incident, the Iraqi rescue team reached there to help. They safely evacuated the remaining 27 crew members present on the ship and took them to the city of Basra in Iraq.

Due to this attack, operations at Iraq’s oil ports were halted for some time. However, work continued normally at other commercial ports.
