Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday criticized the “bring 10 Muslim girls and get jobs” comment made by former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Raghavendra Pratap Singh. He described it as “hate speech” and an attempt to incite communal and caste-based hatred in Uttar Pradesh and other states.

Referring to this “poisonous and violent game” being played by mischievous elements, Mayawati alleged that some “criminal and anti-social elements” are taking the law into their own hands under the guise of opposing religious conversion and so-called “love jihad”.

Mayawati wrote on social media platform It is highly condemnable.”

Stepping up his attack on the former BJP MLA, the BSP chief said such “anti-social elements” pose a serious threat to the functioning of a civilized and constitutional government. He demanded that instead of giving protection to such people, strict action should be taken against them.

Mayawati said, “Such criminal, anarchic and anti-social elements pose an open challenge and threat to a civilized and constitutional government. Instead of supporting and protecting them, governments should take strict legal action against such people to establish the rule of law, keeping in mind the welfare and interests of crores of people of the state – this is in the larger interest of the people and the nation.”

His comments come after former BJP MLA Raghavendra Pratap Singh reportedly made a statement during a public meeting in Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh, in which he had said, “Bring at least 10 Muslim girls. I will get you married. I also announce that whoever does this will get employment.”
