New Delhi. The schedule of municipal elections to be held in Maharashtra has been announced. Giving detailed information in the press conference, State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare said that the entire election process will be completed in three phases. Voting for 246 Municipal Councils and 42 Nagar Panchayats will take place on December 2, 2025. The counting of votes will be done on 3 December 2025. Voting will be conducted through EVM. More than 1 crore 7 lakh voters will vote this time. 13,355 polling stations will be set up for voting in municipal bodies across the state. 6,859 members and 288 chairpersons will be elected through voting.

State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare said that the process of filing nominations will start from November 10. The last date for filing nomination papers has been kept as 17th November. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on November 18. The candidates will be able to withdraw their names till 21st November. The election schedule of 29 municipal corporations, 32 district councils and 336 panchayat committees has not been announced yet. These dates will also be announced soon after finalizing them. However, the Election Commissioner definitely said that after the completion of the first phase of elections, the election process of the second phase will be started which will be held between December and January. In this, elections for Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis will be conducted.
After this, the process of elections for the third and final phase will take place in January. In this phase, municipal corporation elections will be held in big cities like Mumbai, Pune, Thane etc. The Election Commissioner said that the entire election process will be completed before January 31, 2026. For transparency and convenience of voters, the Election Commission will soon release an app related to voting. This mobile app will have complete details regarding candidates and voters.
