New session of Indian schools in UAE starts online, studies will be done from home till 17th April, government issued new rules.

There is important news for Indian expatriates and students living in UAE. Keeping in mind the regional conditions and security, the government has taken a precautionary decision to start the new academic session 2026-2027 in online mode. In most of the Indian schools, studies have started from 6th April 2026 and now children are taking their classes sitting at home.

What are the new orders of the Education Ministry and Regulatory Board?

The UAE Ministry of Education has extended online education in nursery, KG, government and private schools as well as universities across the country till 17 April 2026. This situation will be reviewed every week so that further decisions can be taken.

KHDA (Dubai): The Dubai authority has made it clear to Indian schools that the new session will start online only and the schools will have to review their arrangements within two weeks.
ADEK (Abu Dhabi): Abu Dhabi’s Education Department has instructed schools to set a daily timetable for children and make it mandatory to provide screen-free breaks.
Rule: Schools have been asked to pay attention to the mental health of children and conduct well-being check-ins every week.

Preparation of schools and important information for parents

Schools have taken several steps to improve online learning. Institutions like GEMS New Millennium School and Woodlem Educational have given special training to teachers so that children can get a school-like environment even at home.

JSS Private School: Initially assessments will be conducted to know the preparation of the children. Daily attendance and rules will be followed as per Abu Dhabi Indian School ADEK policies.

Officials have also made it clear that parents do not need to work in place of teachers, but only have to support their children’s education. At least 45 minutes of time has been allotted a week for physical education so that children can remain active.
