It will now be possible for the common man to buy his own house in Delhi. Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has launched ‘Janata Awas Yojana 2026’. The main objective of this scheme is to provide cheap flats in good locations of Delhi to the people of Economically Weaker Section (EWS). However, DDA has clarified that this scheme is only for those whose annual earnings are within a prescribed limit.

Who can apply? (Eligibility Conditions)

DDA has set strict income limit to keep the rich out of this scheme. To get a flat you have to fulfill the following conditions:

It is mandatory for the applicant to be an Indian citizen. The minimum age of the person applying should be 18 years. Income Limit: The annual income of the entire family should not exceed Rs 10 lakh. A major relief given is that there is no restriction on property ownership in Delhi for this scheme.

Keep these important documents ready

Before starting the application process, get all your documents in order, so that there is no problem later. You will need these documents:

PAN Card. Savings Bank Account in the applicant’s own name. Income certificate issued by the competent authority (to prove that the income is less than Rs 10 lakh). Identity card and address proof.

Selection and Application Process

Application for Janata Awas Yojana can be made online only through the official portal of DDA. The allotment of flats will not be done through any recommendation, but through ‘Computerized Random Draw’ with complete transparency. The result of the draw will be declared on 13 February 2026.

Reservation and special rules

DDA has also made some special provisions to give equal rights to different sections of the society. Special rules apply in the scheme for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Divyangjan and Ex-Servicemen. Applicants belonging to these categories are advised to select their category correctly while filling the form.
