New Delhi. US President Donald Trump’s dream of meeting PM Narendra Modi is once again going to remain unfulfilled. Actually, PM Modi will not go to Malaysia to participate in the ASEAN summit. He will join the summit meeting virtually. Donald Trump is arriving to attend the ASEAN summit. In such a situation, earlier it was expected that PM Modi and Trump could meet in Malaysia.
Earlier, when PM Modi had gone to Canada to participate in the meeting of G-7 countries, while returning, US President Donald Trump had called him and invited him to meet. At that time, PM Modi had told Trump that his schedule was such that he could not go through America while returning to India. In fact, as soon as he returned from Canada, PM Modi had to visit Bihar and start work in public interest. Obviously now Trump will once again have to be disappointed if PM Modi does not reach Malaysia to participate in the ASEAN summit.
PM Modi went to America in February 2025. At that time he had a warm meeting with Trump. When Trump became the President of America earlier, he had very good chemistry with PM Modi. Even today, Trump calls Narendra Modi great and his good friend, but in May, when India launched a military operation against Pakistan named Operation Sindoor, Trump’s behavior seemed to have changed. Trump is continuously claiming that he was the one who stopped the military conflict between India and Pakistan. Whereas, PM Modi himself has said that Operation Sindoor has not been postponed under pressure from any country. Then Donald Trump gave lunch to Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir at the White House. Trump first imposed 25 percent tariff on India and then imposed another 25 percent tariff on India by accusing it of helping Russia by buying crude oil.
Recently, Trump claimed that he had talked to PM Modi. Trump said that PM Modi has assured that India will soon stop buying crude oil from Russia. Only after Trump’s statement came, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made it clear that PM Modi has not had any conversation with Trump. That means Trump’s claim once again proved wrong. However, in the last few days, PM Modi has also reacted to Trump’s statement on social media. After this it seemed that he might meet Trump during the ASEAN meeting in Malaysia, but at present all the speculations have been proved wrong.
