There is great news for the people waiting for the opening of Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport). The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued Aerodrome License to the airport on Friday. Just a day before this, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) had also approved the safety standards. After these two approvals, there is no legal hurdle left in starting flights from the airport.

When will the flights start and what is the plan?
After getting the license, preparations to start flights have now intensified. According to officials, domestic flights and cargo services are expected to start within 45 days of getting the license. This means that common people will be able to travel from here by the end of April or beginning of May 2026.
Initially, flights will be available from here to domestic cities. If you are planning to go abroad, then you will have to wait for some time. It is targeted to start operating international flights from September 2026. Companies like IndiGo, Air India and Akasa Air are ready to provide their services from here.
What are the conditions regarding security?
Security agency BCAS has approved the airport, but has also put a condition. Right now the security perimeter wall of the airport is not completely solid. At present a temporary security cordon has been created there. The agency has said that the permanent boundary wall work will have to be completed within the next 6 months.
The responsibility of airport security will remain with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). DGCA has given it license in the ‘Public Use’ category, paving the way for commercial flights. The work of the road connecting the airport to Yamuna Expressway has also been completed.
