AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has hit out at opposition parties who accuse AIMIM of being the ‘B team’ of the BJP and said that instead of introspecting on its weaknesses, they unfairly target his party. In an interview with ANI, the AIMIM chief said there is no perception among people that his party is the ‘B’ team of the BJP, but he said that in the opposition Efforts are being made by some parties in this direction.
Taking a dig at these parties, he said that if they think that “bringing Owaisi into everything will cure the disease” then he has no problem. Owaisi said, “There is no such assumption… If you (the opposition) think that bringing Owaisi into everything will cure the disease, then I have no problem with it… There is no such assumption. People want to make it so. But we have said many times, and we are saying again today, that if Narendra Modi He has become the Prime Minister of this country thrice, so it is not the fault of Indian Muslims.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is getting almost fifty percent non-Muslim votes in the elections. They are getting 37-38% votes, so what is my role in this? If you want to crown me, I will accept. I don’t mind. If you think involving Owaisi in everything will cure the disease, then I have no problem with it. Introspect and see how weak you are,” he added.
The AIMIM chief denied allegations of links with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying his meetings with BJP ministers were only for work purposes. He told that once he had met Union Minister Giriraj Singh to discuss the issues related to the textile sector, especially the power loom in Malegaon. Owaisi said, “I have no connection with the BJP… Before Operation Sindoor, I had issued a statement asking why did you not call me to the all-party meeting? The Home Minister called me and asked me to come. I met Giriraj Singh about the Malegaon power loom. Giriraj Singh talked to us for an hour. He is a minister, shouldn’t I go to him for clothing related work? …I am politically opposed to you, but I want to get things done and you are in government…”
Speaking on the bypolls in Telangana’s Jubilee Hills assembly constituency, Owaisi said his party has not yet taken any final decision about the alliance with the Congress for the upcoming bypolls. “No decision has been taken yet (on alliance with the Congress) for the Jubilee Hills bypolls,” he said. Yes, I have good relations with Revanth Reddy. I’ve said it before, and I’m saying it again. The metro line was not built in a part of my constituency, so we were supporting TRS in the elections… The public has elected me; I have to work. We will not compromise on ideology. We are not compromising with BJP, nor will we compromise with anyone else…”
By-elections will be held in Jubilee Hills constituency of Telangana on November 14 and the results will be declared on November 14. Congress has declared Naveen Yadav as the party’s candidate for the upcoming by-elections from Jubilee Hills constituency for Telangana Assembly.
