New Delhi. The Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi has given relief to Sonia Gandhi and dismissed a petition seeking to register an FIR against him. Petitioner advocate Vikas Tripathi had alleged that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had received India’s citizenship in 1983 while his name was included in the Delhi voter list in 1980. The petitioner had also claimed that in 1982, two years later, the Election Commission removed Sonia Gandhi’s name from the voter list. The petitioner had demanded an FIR against Sonia Gandhi, demanding an inquiry into the case.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Chaurasia, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Rouse Avenue Court, reserved the verdict after hearing the case on Wednesday. The petitioner’s counsel Pawan Narang had said that Sonia Gandhi’s name was removed from the voter list in 1982 after the name was included in the voter list in 1980. At that time, the Election Commission had removed only two names. One name was of Sanjay Gandhi as he died in 1981. While the other was of Sonia Gandhi. He said that probably the Election Commission came to know that false documents were presented to get the names added to the voter list and perhaps that is why Sonia’s name was removed from the voter list.
On behalf of the petitioner, it was reported from the court to direct the Delhi Police to investigate the case and investigate it and file a status report. However, the Rousse Avenue Court has quashed the petition filed against Sonia Gandhi, bypassing all the arguments of the petitioner’s counsel.
