PM Modi congratulated Team India on winning the Women's World Cup, said- 'This victory will inspire future champions'

Indian women’s cricket team created history after a long wait of 52 years. Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India won its first ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final match played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

After this historic victory of India, there is a wave of happiness in the entire country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers and leaders of many states have congratulated Team India.

Home Minister Amit Shah in his congratulatory message said, “Salute to the world-winning Team India! It is a proud moment for the nation, when our daughters have won the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Your brilliant cricketing talent has paved the way for inspiration for millions of girls.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote, “Historic victory! Hearty congratulations to the world-winning Indian women’s cricket team. Hearty congratulations to the countrymen. You all are the pride of the country. Bharat Mata ki Jai!”

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “The daughters of world-winning India have brought glory to the country with their tireless hard work, dedication and self-confidence. We are proud of you.”

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel wrote, “What a wonderful moment for Indian cricket! Congratulations to our amazing ‘Women in Blue’ for bringing home the Women’s World Cup 2025 trophy. Your passion, courage and talent have made the entire nation proud. This win is an inspiration to all the young girls who dare to dream big.”

Batting first, India scored 298 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, South Africa was all out for 246 runs in 45.3 overs. Deepti Sharma took 5 wickets, while Shefali Verma took 2 wickets. Even South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt’s inning of 101 runs could not save the team from defeat.

The Women’s World Cup was started in 1973 and in 2025, the Indian team has made not only the sports world but the entire country proud by becoming world champion for the first time. There is an atmosphere of celebration across the country and this historic victory has now become a symbol of inspiration for the coming generation.
