New Delhi. Voter list in Bihar was still heard in the Supreme Court in the special intensive revision (SIR) case. During this time, the court said that the decision on SIR will not be limited to Bihar only, but will be for the country. The Supreme Court further stated that the Commission is a constitutional body and we believe that it is fully following the law and rules, but if the Bihar voter list is found to be a slight illegality in any phase of special intensive revision, then the entire process will be canceled. With this, the court fixed the next date for hearing the case on 7 October.
Earlier, during the hearing held on 8 September, the Supreme Court had ordered the Election Commission to accept the Aadhaar card as 12th valid document for special intensive revision in Bihar. However, the court has made it clear that the Aadhaar card cannot be considered as evidence of citizenship. After this order, all the people of Bihar are being considered as facilities, whose name has been out of the voter list due to lack of 11 documents.
Let us tell you that the Election Commission has cut the name of about 65 lakh voters from the voter list during SIR in Bihar. Its draft list was published on 1 August. Along with this, those whose names have been left out of being included in the voter list for some reason were given 1 month to get the name by showing valid documents. On the other hand, after Bihar, there is talk of special intensive revision of voter list in the entire country. It is believed that it may be announced in October.
