New Delhi. The Election Commission has announced to start the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of voter list in 12 states and union territories across the country including UP, West Bengal. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar held a press conference and gave information about starting the second phase of SIR. The states where the SIR campaign will be launched include Andaman and Nicobar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The Election Commissioner said that in the states where the SIR process is to be conducted, the voter list will be frozen from 12 o’clock tonight.

The training process of BLOs and AEROs for the second phase of SIR will start from tomorrow i.e. Tuesday 28th October. The process of printing and training will start on 3 November 2025. The Election Department has appealed to all political parties to appoint booth level agents as soon as possible. After this, from November 4 to December 4, 2025, BLOs will go door-to-door to collect information about voters. After this, the draft voter list will be presented on 9 December 2025. Whereas the final voter list will be published on 7 February 2026.

The Election Commission says that the SIR process has been started to update the voter list so that fair elections can be conducted. The Election Commission has said that the names of all new voters above 18 years of age will be added to the voter list and the names of people who have died or those voters who are voters from two places will be removed from the list. Every BLO will visit every house at least three times to collect information. Voters who are outside their area will also get the facility to fill the online form.
