Sleeper Vande Bharat Express will run between Howrah and Delhi via Patna, know the route and facilities

Preparations are being made to run sleeper Vande Bharat Express train between Howrah and Delhi soon. This is a great news for the travelers of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, this train will pass through many major stations including Patna, the capital of Bihar. This will be the second sleeper Vande Bharat train for Bengal, while the first for Bihar and UP, which will cover a distance of about 1500 kilometers.

At which stations there will be stoppage

As per the proposed plan, this sleeper Vande Bharat train from Howrah to Delhi will cover many major junctions of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. This train will mainly stop at Mokama, Kiul, Patna and Buxar stations. With its operation, passengers from these cities will get a premium and faster option to go to Delhi and Kolkata. This route is one of the busiest routes, so the demand for this train is expected to be quite high.

Number of seats and coach composition

This sleeper Vande Bharat train will have a total of 16 coaches and its passenger capacity has been fixed at 823. According to the information given by the Railways, different categories have been created keeping in mind the facilities of the passengers in the train:

Third AC (3rd AC): 11 coaches (Total 611 passengers) Second AC (2nd AC): 4 coaches (Total 188 passengers) First AC (1st AC): 1 coach (Total 24 passengers)

Better facilities than Tejas and Rajdhani

This new train will be better than the existing Tejas and Rajdhani Express in terms of facilities. This train will complete the journey in less time. It will have the facility of modern lighting system for passengers, clean bio-toilets and charging points at every seat. For security reasons, AI based CCTV cameras and automatic doors have been installed in it. Besides, advanced fire safety arrangements have also been made to prevent fire.

Four new Amrit Bharat trains

Apart from Vande Bharat, Railways has also expanded Amrit Bharat trains. By January 18, three new Amrit Bharat trains will start running on the tracks. These trains will ensure affordable and comfortable travel for the common man. Check details of new Amrit Bharat trains in the table below:

Current status and official information

Although there is talk of Howrah-Delhi sleeper Vande Bharat (via Patna) in media reports, passengers should also keep an eye on the official announcements of the Railways. Presently Vande Bharat (train number 22347/22348) with chair car is operating between Howrah-Patna and Patna-Ranchi Vande Bharat (22350). The inauguration of the country’s first sleeper Vande Bharat on the Howrah-Kamakhya route is scheduled by the Prime Minister on 17 January 2026.
