A large education project of Indian business leader Faizal Kottikolon, situated in UAE, is going to change the picture of hundreds of girls of Kashmir. The Middle School Block of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh, Srinagar, has been fully renewed, which will be inaugurated on 27 October.
This initiative is from Faizal and Shabana Foundation (FSF), which is running Kottikolon. He had earlier newly included schools in Kerala and included them in the best government schools in the country. Now the same model is being implemented in Kashmir. Kottikolon promised this Dream School Project during the Srinagar tour in 2023, when Emar Mall was founded. Recently, he met Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and called him for the inauguration of the school.
Under this initiative, there was talk on education as well as health and wellness related work. Foundation has already improved more than 900 government schools across India since 2013. Kottikolon says, “It is a matter of pride for us to contribute to the future of the children of Srinagar. Education is the biggest investment and this project is an example of India-UAE partnership.”
The newly built school block has modern facilities like digital classroom, smart library and IT lab. More than 90 teachers have been trained from Kerala and Kashmir to improve the level of studies. This model will not be limited to only one school, but will also be an example for other government schools. Office has been set up in the Directorate of Education and School Campus to continuously monitor this project. Kottikollon believes that this project shows how India and UAE can create a better future through education and social service.
