Tamil Nadu: Udayanidhi meets high -level review meeting after a stampede incident in Karur, meets injured

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin presided over a high -level review meeting in the auditorium of Government Medical College Hospital on Sunday in view of the stampede during a public rally of actor Vijay in Karur. This meeting was organized to assess medical assistance and treatment to those injured in the stampede and discuss further measures.

Udayanidhi visited the hospital to pay homage to those who lost their lives in a tragic stampede during the political campaign of Tamilga Vatri Kazhagam in Karur and met the victims undergoing treatment at the hospital. He paid floral tributes on the body of the victims and consoled their bereaved families.

He was accompanied by Cooperative Minister K.R. Periyakarupan and Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma. Subramanian, Transport and Power Minister S.S. Several ministers were present including Shivshankar, School Education Minister Ambil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Shiv V. Mayianathan.

On this occasion, MP Jothimani, K.N. Arun Nehru and V. Senthil Balaji, MLAs, Karur District Collector M. Thangvel, Trichy District Collector V. Saravanan and Dindigul District Collector S. Senior district officers, government doctors and police officers were also present including Saravanan. Earlier, Udayanidhi expressed great grief over the death of the people in the stampede at the Tamilaga Vetri Kazagam rally.

In a post shared on X, the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu said, “Reports of losing my life due to the crowd in Karur are hurting very sad. In this serious situation being provided, we urge the government’s work and the medical team to give full support. “

Meanwhile, a person who survived in the Karur stampede narrated his heart -wrenching tragedy and told how much personal damage and uncertainty his family is facing, in which 38 people were killed. Talking to the journalists, the victim said, “My brother has two sons. His elder son died. We do not know where his younger son is right in the ICU. She has an eye injury. “Meanwhile, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay on Saturday expressed grief over the tragic death of people in a stampede at his rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu.

In a post on X, Vijay prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the incident. Vijay wrote, “My heart is broken; I am groaning with unbearable, indescribable suffering and sorrow which cannot be described in words. I express my deep condolences and sympathy to the families of my dear brothers and sisters who lost my life in Karur. I pray for the early recovery of the people undergoing treatment in the hospital.”

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the victims after the death of 36 people. CM Stalin also announced a assistance of one lakh rupees to the people undergoing treatment in hospitals. The Chief Minister also announced the formation of a member inquiry commission under the chairmanship of retired judge Justice Aruna Jagdishan of the High Court, which will fully investigate and submit the report to the government. In a statement, the Chief Minister expressed deep grief over the incident and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. Describing this damage as “irreparable”, he assured that the government is taking all necessary steps to help the victims.
