Why has Tina Ambani been called?

This investigation is related to alleged bank fraud and money laundering worth about Rs 40,000 crore. The ED investigation has mentioned a luxury flat which is located in Manhattan, New York. The price of this flat is said to be around Rs 70 crore.

The agency suspects that the loan money from Reliance Communications (RCOM) was wrongly diverted through shell companies and a Dubai firm. This money was allegedly used to buy property abroad. After Tina Ambani’s name surfaced in this money transaction, she was called to answer.

What has happened so far in the investigation?

On February 4, the Supreme Court had ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to speed up the investigation in this case. Anil Ambani’s close aide and former RCOM President Puneet Garg has been arrested last week itself. Anil Ambani has assured the Supreme Court that he will not leave the country without permission. ED has so far attached more than 40 properties of the group, which are worth thousands of crores of rupees.
