UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy visited New Delhi on 19 March 2026. During this, he met India’s Foreign Minister Dr. Had detailed talks with S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on regional security and maritime stability. In the meeting, serious concern was expressed about the impact of missile attacks by Iran on the global economy and energy security.

What was discussed on security and attacks in the meeting?
Reem Al Hashimy described the recent missile attacks as a treacherous attack and a violation of international law. He clearly said that the UAE has every right to defend itself and protect its sovereignty and there will be no compromise on the security of national achievements. In the talks, emphasis was laid on the security of important sea routes like the Strait of Hormuz so that international trade can continue without any fear. On behalf of India, the Ministry of External Affairs also reiterated that global shipping routes should remain open and safe so that there is no interruption in the supply of oil and other goods.
Main points of discussion and international proposals
In this meeting, the ongoing proposals and security rules in international forums were also discussed. The main objective of these discussions is to restore peace in the Gulf region and secure trade routes.
UN Security Council Resolution 2817 was discussed, in which Iran has been demanded to stop the attacks immediately. Mention was made of the resolution of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) which has received the support of more than 115 countries and which condemns Iran’s attacks. Prime Minister Modi has appealed to the leaders of Gulf countries, Iran and Israel to adopt the path of dialogue and diplomacy. Both countries expressed the need to stop attacks on civilians and energy infrastructure.
