Delhi Police on Friday detained four Indian Youth Congress workers during a protest at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital. The accused will be presented in Patiala House Court.
According to Delhi Police sources, there was a prolonged clash with the protesters and several serious charges have been registered.
Delhi Police sources said the protesters had earlier planned to enter the venue carrying black umbrellas with stickers printed on them. Fearing being caught during the security check, they changed their plans and wore T-shirts with messages printed on them.

Sources further said that the police are investigating the matter as part of a larger conspiracy, which also includes tracing the source of the printed stickers.
Earlier, in a statement, the Indian Youth Congress said its workers were protesting against a “compromised Prime Minister who has traded away the country’s identity at the AL summit.”
An official statement from the Indian Youth Congress said, “The workers of the Indian Youth Congress raised their voice and protested against the corrupt Prime Minister who has traded the identity of the country in the All India Summit.”
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized this protest by Congress workers.
Earlier, Delhi Police initiated legal action against Youth Congress workers who were protesting without wearing shirts. Additional Police Commissioner Devesh Mahala said the incident occurred around 12:30 pm and the protesters had registered online for the summit.
He told that the protesters were wearing sweaters and jackets over objectionable T-shirts. Near Hall No. 5, one of them took off his outer clothes and waved his T-shirt in protest. The official further said that appropriate legal action is being taken and the detained persons are being identified.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav urged the Congress party to keep the India summit above politics and stressed the importance of showcasing the country’s innovation and global presence.
Vaishnav said, “No one can explain this to them (protesters). This is their job. They must be very horrified as to how such a nice, such a grand Al Summit was held.”
Speaking to ANI on the sidelines of the summit, Vaishnaw said, “Second, when India is progressing rapidly, as you heard the voice of the youth, people from all parts of the country are seeing this as a new opportunity for themselves, and this is the time when we should put the summit above politics. We should ensure that everyone cooperates in this effort; only then can the country move forward. If the Congress continues to be in the same mindset where it has to obstruct everything, then God only.” Save them.”
The protests came after Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi attacked the government over the organization of the summit and said, “Instead of leveraging India’s talent and data, the AI summit is a disorganized public relations spectacle – Indian data is put up for sale, Chinese products are being showcased.”
