Disaster response personnel rescued a total of 200 students on Tuesday, who were stranded after waterlogging after night after heavy rains in the Devbhoomi Institute campus located in the Ponda area of ​​Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

There are reports of damage to roads, houses and other infrastructure from many places in the state due to torrential rains.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) core after receiving information about 200 students being stuck in the instituteRescue teams reached the spot and took them out safely.

The SDRF said, “The team reached the spot and carried out quick rescue operations. Amidst the waterlogging, the team worked with great conscience and promptness and took all the 200 students safely and brought them to a safe place.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today conducted a terrestrial inspection of Sahastradhara, Raipur and other areas of Dehradun affected by heavy rains.

The Chief Minister also inspected Kesarwala, Maldevata area, where a 100 -meter long road was washed away in Maldevata of Raipur due to heavy water flow in Sahastradhara area of ​​Dehradun district.

Addressing the journalists, Dhami said, “Homes and government properties have suffered a lot. Livelihood has been affected. We are working to bring things back on track. Contacts have been disrupted in many places. The water level of rivers has increased. All our departments are working on a war footing. Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah spoke to me this morning and all the information will be assured to us that we will give us all the help. Working to help the affected people. “

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that he is constantly in touch with the local administration and is personally monitoring the situation.

In Dehradun, torrential rains have been raining since early today, due to which the Sahastradhara river has come in spate. Due to strong water, debris entered the main market, causing heavy damage to many commercial establishments.

Floods caused by heavy rains, shops and hotels on Sahastradhara Road were badly damaged. The debris came to the main market, causing damage to hotels and shops.

In addition, the Tamsa river came out in spate due to rain and one of the most prominent temples in the city, the Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple was submerged. Pani entered the temple courtyard and reached the statue of Hanuman ji, although the sanctum sanctorum remained safe.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, the temple priest Acharya Bipin Joshi said that the river had started a strong current since morning and the entire temple complex was submerged.

He said, “From five o’clock in the morning, there was a strong current in the river, the entire temple complex was submerged. Such situation had not come for a long time. There has been damage in various places. People should avoid going to rivers at this time. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is safe. So far there is no news of any loss of life and property.”

Meanwhile, officials said that heavy rains have also affected Rishikesh, where the Chandrabhaga river has been flowing above the normal level since morning and the water has reached the highway.

According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), three people trapped in the river have been saved by the team, while many vehicles are still stuck in flood waters. The authorities have urged the residents to be vigilant and avoid going near the swollen rivers and drains.
