Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, the Indian government has released the latest figures. According to government data till April 2, 2026, more than 6.24 lakh Indian passengers have returned home safely. The conflict between America, Israel and Iran has now entered its second month, due to which the government has taken strict steps for the safety of Indians.
Which routes are being used for the safe return of Indians?
The Ministry of External Affairs has said that special routes have been arranged to evacuate Indians stranded in different countries. Due to closure of airspace, passengers are being brought to India via neighboring countries.
Iran: From here passengers are being brought via Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Israel: The route to Egypt and Jordan has been decided for the people stranded here.
Iraq: The passengers are being brought back through Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Kuwait and Bahrain: From here, facility to come to India via Saudi Arabia has been provided.
Withdrawal from Iran: So far, around 1,200 Indians have been evacuated from Iran.
What are the new rules for aircraft movement and safety?
DGCA has issued an advisory for Indian Airlines to ensure the safety of passengers. In view of the tension in the airspace, some restrictions have been imposed for flights which are necessary for both passengers and airlines.

Asim R Mahajan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, said that the security of Indians living in Gulf countries is the biggest responsibility of the government.
