How are Indians returning from Gulf countries?
Amidst the tension, the work of evacuating Indians from Gulf countries is going on at a fast pace. According to the latest data, between March 1 and March 7, 2026, more than 52 thousand Indians have returned safely to their country. Of these, 32,107 people have returned via Indian flights. For this, more than 280 commercial and special flights were arranged. The Ministry of External Affairs has informed that the Indian Embassy in Iran’s capital Tehran is fully functioning and the students studying there have been shifted to safe places. 24-hour helplines have also been launched in major cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Kuwait.
What will be the impact on India’s security and supply chain?
Foreign Minister Jaishankar expressed concern that this war could have a negative impact on the global supply chain. There is also a threat to the supply of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz, which may affect energy security. The government is taking steps to ensure that it does not have a direct impact on the common people. Earlier, on March 1, 2026, the Cabinet Committee on Security under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also held an important meeting regarding energy security and safety of Indians. After this, India has given shelter to another Iranian ship IRIS Lavan at Kochi Port. The Ministry of External Affairs has made it clear that all countries should respect each other’s sovereignty and mutual disputes should be resolved peacefully. The government has also announced assistance in visa rules for foreign nationals stranded in India so that they can get relief in this time of crisis.
