New Delhi. Justice in the Supreme Court, Justice Pankaj Mittal and Justice Prayer B.K. Varale’s bench is hearing PILs filed against the Vantara project of Anant Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani. On August 25, the bench created an SIT to investigate complaints against Vantara. The SIT consists of the chairman of the Supreme Court retired Justice Jasti Chelameswar and former Chief Justice Raghavendra Chauhan of Uttarakhand and Telangana High Court, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale and senior IRS officer Anish Gupta. The SIT has submitted a report to the Supreme Court in a closed envelope after investigation by Vantara.
While creating SIT, the Supreme Court bench had clearly stated that this process is only a search investigation to help the court. The works of any statutory authorities or Vantara will not be understood as suspicion. Now let us tell you why the Supreme Court is hearing in the Vanatara case. Actually, two PILs have been filed in this case. Public interest petitions alleged that illegal transfer of wildlife in Vanatara, elephants are illegally hostage and other violations are done. Vantara also has support from Reliance Industries. After hearing these PILs, the Supreme Court had formed an SIT to know the reality.
These PILs were filed after being sent to Vanatara, 36 -year -old Hathini Mahadevi alias Madhuri of Kolhapur. Hathini was sent to Vanatara by order of the Supreme Court. The SIT bench had said that it should report by checking the wildlife acquisition of wildlife, especially elephants, compliance with the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, the obligation of the Wildlife Protection Act, CITES, medical treatment of wildlife, animal welfare standards, private collection allegations, misuse of water or carbon credit and financial irregularity. The SIT investigated within the prescribed limit and submitted its report to the Supreme Court on 12 September. At the same time, Vanatara has said that she is committed to transparency, compassion and complete compliance of law. Vantara has said that her mission and attention focuses on animal rehabilitation, rescue and care.
