At least six people, including four members of a family, were killed in two wild elephant attacks in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district. A senior forest officer gave this information on Wednesday.
Chaibasa division forest officer Aditya Narayan told PTI that the elephant, which had attacked several people in the past few days, entered Noamundi and Hatgamaria police station areas late on Tuesday night and killed six people. Another forest officer said that four people were also injured in the elephant attack.
Narayan told that a day earlier the elephant had killed seven people including three members of the same family.
The official said teams of forest officials, including experts from West Bengal’s Bankura district, have been deployed to take the elephant back to the forest. Meanwhile, several trains have been canceled in the area due to elephant movement.
