IPL 2025 Auction: Trouble before IPL

IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Even though the IPL season is still far away and it is to be organized next year, but preparations for it have already started. This time it is believed that there will be a mega auction before the IPL, so the matter is stuck. It is not yet decided what will be the rules of the mega auction. The teams have put forward their own demands. But the interesting thing is that all the teams want changes in the rules according to their own. Now what will happen on this whole matter, its decision is likely to be taken on July 31. It is being told that BCCI has called a meeting of all the franchise owners, in which all these issues will be discussed and an attempt will be made to reach a conclusion.

There will be a meeting on IPL on 31st July

A meeting is to be held in Mumbai on July 31 before the IPL 2025 mega auction. According to a Cricbuzz report, the IPL CEO has informed all the teams about this. However, the venue is not yet decided. But it is believed that the meeting will be held at the BCCI office near the Wankhede Stadium. It is also being told that the meeting can start in the afternoon or late evening. IPL CEO Hemang Amin has told all the franchise owners that a formal invitation with the venue and time will be sent later. Not only this, all the IPL owners have also confirmed their participation in it.

How many players will be retained, decision in the meeting

Meanwhile, it is understood that the biggest issue of discussion in this meeting can be about the retention of players. Earlier, when the mega auction took place, all the teams could retain four players of their own. Also, their price had to be mentioned. Now it is to be decided whether the number of players to be retained will increase or decrease. The big thing is that the teams want to retain one to eight players. There is no consensus among all. According to the report of Cricbuzz, permission can be given to retain up to five to six players. However, the final decision will be taken only after the meeting.

Teams will not be allowed to retain more players

Suppose if a team is allowed to retain its eight players, then about 80 players from all over the world will be out of the mega auction even before the auction, because the teams will not release them. Due to this, the excitement of the mega auction will not be what it should be. At the same time, some teams also say that they buy new players and prepare them in two to three years, but after that when they are on the verge of becoming stars, they have to be released. In the mega auction, other teams continuously buy them by making big bids.

Decision on RTM is also expected

Not only this, Right to Match i.e. RTM can also be a topic of discussion in the meeting. When the mega auction was held last time in the year 2021, this rule was not there. Whether BCCI will give permission for this time is also a big question. While there is a possibility of loss to the teams due to RTM, it is a profitable deal for the players. All the IPL teams have different opinions about this rule. In such a situation, there is a possibility of commotion on this too. Now what will be the final decision, it will be known only by the night of July 31 or the morning of August 1.
