New Delhi. On 26 November 2008, Mumbai suffered one of the worst terrorist attacks in Indian history, known as the 26/11 attacks. The attack by 10 terrorists lasted for about 60 hours, resulting in the loss of 160 lives and more than 200 people being injured. It spread across several prominent locations in Mumbai, notably Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai Central Railway Station, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and Oberoi Trident Hotel. The attackers, who arrived by sea, started the attack by firing indiscriminately at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, causing loss of lives before anyone could understand the situation. They then roamed the streets of Mumbai, created ruckus and surrounded the prestigious Taj and Oberoi hotels. It required collective efforts of the Mumbai Police and Indian security forces to control and neutralize the terrorists.
Honoring the bravery and sacrifice shown during the attack, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag paid tribute on Twitter. He particularly highlighted the remarkable gallantry and selflessness displayed by one of the brave sons of India, Martyr Tukaram Omble, who courageously captured one of the terrorists, Ajmal Kasab, despite suffering multiple bullet wounds. Sehwag expressed pride in such notable individuals.
15 years ago on this day, one of the most ghastly terror attacks shook us. One of the greatest son of Bharat Maa, Veer Shaheed Tukaram Omble demonstrated exemplary courage and selflessness to catch Kasab alive. Forever indebted. Proud of such a great man. #MumbaiTerrorAttack pic.twitter.com/yyaT0jcwjQ
