This includes the cardholder’s name, date of birth, biometric, e-mail ID and phone number etc. The 12 digit number is the digital identity of an Indian person.
case going on since 2011
UIDAI has decided not to ask for residential proof for issuance of Aadhar card from sex workers. Also that certificate will be accepted. Which has been received from an official of the National AIDS Control Organization or from the State Health Department. The matter is going on in the Supreme Court since 2011. The court was concerned about the lack of food security for millions of sex workers in the country. The plight increased manifold with the corona pandemic. When Justice L.N.Rao was hearing it. Then the UIDI had placed a proposed proforma of the identity card before the court for this. Several issues have been included in this petition. It also includes the issue of preparing rehabilitation plans for those who want to come out of prostitution.
