New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had received a complaint that some officers and employees of his ministry were taking money from NGOs for getting the license of Foreign Contribution Act i.e. FCRA. On this, Shah immediately ordered to register a complaint with the CBI. On this order, the CBI started raids on Tuesday on the officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, several NGOs and touts working for them. Raids were conducted at 40 places in many states of the country. During this, 12 people, including 6 officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs, are also reported to be arrested. The raids were on till the writing of the news.
According to sources, the CBI has also got information about Rs 2 crore that came through hawala during the raid. All the officers of FCRA division have also been questioned by the investigating agency. According to CBI sources, more arrests are expected in this case. Sources said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was directly informed about this corruption. They had come to know that some officers and employees of FCRA Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs were helping NGOs get licenses through touts. Following the transaction, the NGO was being given a license authorizing it to receive donations from abroad. Shah had given instructions to complain about this to the CBI.
After receiving the complaint from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the CBI raided the matter without delaying the action at all. According to sources, besides the capital Delhi, raids were also conducted in Rajasthan, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Mysore. Many touts and NGO operators have also been arrested by the investigating agency. Let us inform that the Modi government had canceled the FCRA licenses of thousands of NGOs in the past.
