Angered by the death of Anirudh Prasad Yadav (42), who was detained for playing DJ from Aryanagar under Balthar police station of Champaran, the mob crushed to death a constable. The police is accusing the mob of killing the constable by shooting him in the head. Along with setting fire to the police station, the attacking mob looted two INSAS rifles. Half a dozen vehicles were set ablaze along with one fire brigade. The police station has been completely destroyed and not a single paper is safe. Half a dozen policemen have been injured in the incident, who have been admitted to Bettiah GMCH for treatment.
There is a lot of tension in Bettiah today as well, in view of which the entire Balthar area has been converted into a cantonment by filling up the police force. SP Upendra Nath Verma himself is camping in Balthar to handle the situation.
Anirudh Yadav died in police custody on Saturday afternoon, 35 km from the district headquarters. When the police spoke of Anirudh’s death due to bee bite, the villagers’ anger broke out. The agitated Harvey armed with weapons attacked the police station. During this, Havildar Ramjatan Rai (50), posted at Purushottampur police station, died of a serious head injury. Police say Ramjatan Rai has been shot in the head.
Two INSAS robbed, soldier shot
During the incident, two INSAS rifles were looted along with bullets. While constable Pappu Kumar Sharma (30) of Purushottampur police station got injured due to bullet injuries. Along with Pappu, the driver of Sikta police station, constable Paras Yadav (50), Brajendra Kumar Sharma (52), Shivendra Pandit (32), Chandan Kumar (35), Balthar police constable Rajendra Prasad Singh (50) have been injured. . The loaded INSAS rifles of Brajendra Kumar Sharma and Shivendra Pandit have been snatched by the attackers. The injured have been admitted to GMCH.
DJ operator was having a dispute with the watchman
In fact, on the occasion of Holi in Aryanagar on Saturday, people were singing and dancing by playing songs on DJ. Meanwhile, Balthar police reached the spot. The police stopped the DJ and took DJ operator Anirudh Prasad Yadav into custody.
The police team took Anirudh to the police station. After a while, the police officers reached the village doctor’s place with Anirudh. The doctor told that Anirudh has died. Then the police started leaving from there with Anirudh. Meanwhile, the villagers got information about the death and they surrounded the police team. The police team fled from there and reached the police station. The DJ operator’s family was already having a dispute with the local watchman. The relatives said that Anirudh was killed by beating at the behest of the watchman. When the villagers came to know about this, the people got angry. People attacked the police station. Four vehicles present there were set on fire. In the meantime, the equipment and documents kept in the head of the police station were destroyed by the people.
Arson by entering residential premises
Policemen were beaten up by bribing them in the residential premises of the police station. The policemen ran away after saving their lives. The mob also set the police inspector’s vehicle on fire. Due to the fire, a bee hive on a tree in the police station premises was engulfed in smoke. The bees were furious. Then people ran away falling from there. After this the lives of the policemen were saved. Many policemen were staying with their families in the police station. They also escaped with their families and saved their lives.
Tension prevailed, Balthar became the cantonment

SP UN Verma has told that Anirudh Yadav has died due to bee bite. The SP has said that the police is working diligently to bring the situation under control. The matter is under investigation.
