New Delhi. The Batla House area of Delhi, the capital of the country, is once again in the headlines. The reason is the same old i.e. the relationship with terrorists here. This time the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has caught ISIS terrorist Mohsin Ahmed from Batla House area. Only the students of Jamia Millia University located near Batla House had informed about Mohsin. The name of Batla House in Jamia Nagar area became famous when Indian Mujahideen IM terrorists were killed in an encounter here on 19 September 2008. During that encounter, Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma of the Special Cell of Delhi Police had to give martyrdom. A film has been made on that encounter.
The names of the terrorists killed at that time in Batla House encounter are Atif Amin and Mohammad Sajid. Two other terrorists Mohammad Saif and Zeeshan were caught by the police from here. While Ariz Khan and Yasin Bhatkal had escaped. Yasin was later arrested from the Indo-Nepal border. The reason for the 2008 encounter at Batla House was five serial blasts in Delhi on September 13 of the same year. 30 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in these blasts. These blasts were done by Atif Amin along with his associates. He had earlier been convicted of blasts in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Surat and Faizabad in UP in 2007 and 2009.
There was a lot of politics in this matter too. When Salman Khurshid, a Congress leader and a minister in the Central Government at that time, had given this statement that when he told Congress President Sonia Gandhi about the Batla encounter, Sonia got tears in her eyes and she praised the then PM Manmohan Singh. Instructed Salman Khurshid to tell the matter. BJP targets the Congress by making Khurshid’s statement an issue even today. However, now with the arrest of the ISIS terrorist from Batla House, it is clear that even after the 2008 encounter, the terrorists find Batla House a safe area. In such a situation, there is a need to gather more surveillance and intelligence here. So that the associates of terrorists like Mohsin can be caught before any major incident.
