The T20 World Cup will be played jointly hosted by West Indies and America in June 2024, in which a total of 20 teams will participate this time. A good news is coming for the England team before this mega tournament which is about the long-injured fast bowler Joffra Archer. Archer, who could not play in many big series and tournaments for the last few years due to frequent injuries, can be seen returning to the field before the T20 World Cup. England men’s cricket team manager Rob Key has made it clear in his statement regarding this.
Can return to the field from T20 series against Pakistan
Jofra Archer was recently in India where he was a part of the ongoing preparations for Sussex before the start of the season. Currently Joffra Archer is in Barbados and playing at the club level, so that he can test his fitness. In his statement given on ESPN Cricinfo, England Men’s Cricket Manager Rob Key said that Joffra will not play Test cricket in the coming summer but he will definitely be fully prepared to play in the T20 World Cup to be held in June. Joffra can return to the field in the T20 World Cup series against Pakistan.
We are in no hurry with Archer
Rob Key further said in his statement that we do not want to rush the return of Joffra Archer, so that when he returns, he can play for a long time and not get ruled out again after one or two series. Our plan is to play Joffra only in limited overs format this summer and only then when we reach winter, we will consider his return to Test cricket. Let us tell you that Joffra last played for the England team in the T20 series against Bangladesh in March last year, after which he has not been able to return to the field.
