New Delhi. All parties are gearing up for the Gujarat Assembly elections to be held in two phases between December 1 and 5. Yesterday (Saturday), Prime Minister Modi’s roadshow in Gujarat was held in Valsad, in which a large number of people’s support was gathered. This time there is a triangular contest in the Gujarat elections. This time the Aam Aadmi Party has also jumped into the decades-old political battle between the BJP and the Congress. All the three parties are working together for this. While the BJP is organizing rallies, the Congress is secretly campaigning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has asked BJP workers to be vigilant. At the same time, BJP workers are continuously holding rallies and are engaged in mobilizing public support for BJP.
Apart from this, PM Modi in a rally warned Gujarat BJP workers to be careful from other parties and said, “Even if they (Congress) do not hold rallies or organize public meetings and press conferences, they are working silently, so stay alert.” Modi was referring to the khatla meetings or informal meetings of the Congress. The opposition party, the Congress—which put up a spirited fight against the BJP in 2017 and reduced the BJP to 99 seats for the first time since 1995—has been working quietly this time. This time the BJP is being predicted to lose some seats, while according to the same election survey, the Aam Aadmi Party is also seen capturing some seats.
However, let us tell you that this time in the electoral fray in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal has started a spirited campaign in PM Modi’s home state. The Congress party has focused its campaign from door-to-door campaigning to addressing small meetings in rural areas instead of large rallies or roadshows. However, it is difficult to say whether this change in Congress strategy is due to paucity of funds or a conscious decision to focus on the core voters. However, the Congress seems confident. Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil says, “Every party comes up with its own strategy. Our core group, after doing a lot of homework, thought that this would yield better results. Working quietly does not mean we are inactive. Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi says, in 2017 we stopped BJP at 99, this time we will reach 125. On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party, which has made the election triangular, is doing everything from holding big rallies and roadshows to giving freebies and guarantees, implementing the Delhi model in the state.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is busy preparing for the Gujarat elections, while offering the Delhi model to Gujaratis, said during a speech in Saurashtra, “No other party wants to talk to you about schools, hospitals, electricity, employment. does not come Ours is the only party which is doing this.” Kejriwal said, “Earlier, the people of Gujarat did not have any option. No government talked about the real issues of electricity, education, health. The results of the assembly elections will surprise everyone.” AAP’s entry in the Gujarat polls has not only made the fight triangular but has forced the BJP back to the drawing board. BJP is running a campaign to know public opinion on its manifesto. This is the slogan of AAP’s “Choose Your Chief Minister” campaign.
