The Bombay High Court on Tuesday stayed police action against Sameer Wankhede, former Regional (Mumbai) Director of Narcotics Control Bureau, till February 28, while hearing a fraud FIR registered against him.
The court has asked Wankhede to appear before Thane police on February 23 and extend full cooperation in the investigation. A division bench of Justices SS Shinde and NR Borkar heard the matter. An interim protection against coercive action can be given on the basis of special circumstances and facts, the court said.
