Chambal Expressway: Bhopal (State Bureau). The path of Chambal Expressway (Atal Pragati Path) project will become easier after May. The state government has set a target to acquire private land by May. Although this work would have been completed in December 2021 itself, 43 percent of the land owners in Sheopur, Morena and Bhind districts do not agree with the government’s first proposal (double land instead of land). They want compensation in lieu of land. The government has also agreed to this. For this, the government will have to pay a compensation of Rs 333 crore 94 lakh. The process of land acquisition takes about four months. Therefore, land acquisition will start in the month of May.
After this the tender for road construction will be issued. Whereas, due to the simple process of giving land for land, the process of land acquisition will be quick. In this, the government will get 494 hectares of land. Starting from Kota district of Rajasthan, the Chambal Expressway connecting Kannauj-Bhungaon highway in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh will pass through Sheopur, Morena and Bhind districts of the state.
Its total length in Madhya Pradesh is 313 km. For the construction of four-lane road, the state government has to provide land free of cost. One thousand 604 hectares of government land has been transferred to the National Highways Authority of India. The process of diversion (conversion) of 378 hectares of forest land is going on. Its proposal has also been sent to the Central Government. The problem is about 1465 hectares of private land in the three districts. In these districts, 57 per cent (4634) landowners are ready to take twice as much land in exchange for land, but they occupy 34 per cent (494 hectares) of area. Whereas 43 percent (3544) land owners want compensation in lieu of land. They occupy 66 percent (971 hectares) of the area.
Government will give double compensation: Farmers who want money in lieu of land. They will also be given compensation twice the cost of the land. However, the process of land acquisition is lengthy. So they have to wait.
Collectors selected land: Collectors of all the three districts have been asked to work on both the options. He has also selected the land under the land proposal instead of the land.
