The increasing cases of corona in the capital of the country remain a cause of concern. On Friday, new 366 cases of corona were registered. Amidst the fears of a new wave of corona, the Arvind Kejriwal government on Friday announced that the pre-concussion dose (booster dose) of COVID-19 vaccine will be made available free of cost in government hospitals in Delhi. “The precaution dose of a single vaccine will be given to those who have received the first and second doses of the vaccine and who have completed nine months of their second dose,” the government said in a statement.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain was quoted in the statement as saying that all those people who have not yet taken the vaccine or have taken only the first dose, should visit their nearest health center at the earliest for complete vaccination.
According to the bulletin of the health department, the authorities have so far given precaution doses to more than 52.7 lakh beneficiaries. From April 10, all eligible beneficiaries above the age of 18 years were allowed to take the dose.
The government’s statement comes amid a spurt in its daily Covid-19 tally in Delhi over the past few days, raising fears of another wave of infections. On Thursday, Delhi reported 325 new Covid-19 cases. After which the total number reached 18,67,206. Thursday’s case count is 26 more than Wednesday’s. According to news agency PTI, the Covid-19 positivity rate in the national capital has increased from 0.5% to 2.7% in a week. However, doctors said that this is not a scary situation but it will be necessary to follow the guidelines to prevent corona infection.

The Delhi government also said that there is no need to panic and it is monitoring the situation of the epidemic. On Wednesday, a private school in South Delhi had reported two Covid-19 cases. After the corona virus was confirmed in a student and a teacher, all the classmates of the student were sent home. Hours later, the government’s Directorate of Education issued an advisory for all private schools, instructing them to follow COVID-appropriate behavior such as wearing masks, sanitizing hands and maintaining social distancing.
