new Delhi. After winning the Punjab assembly elections, the eyes of the Aam Aadmi Party are on the Gujarat and 2023 Karnataka assembly elections to be held later this year. In this sequence, former Bengaluru Police Commissioner ADG rank IPS officer Bhaskar Rao has joined the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was present during the membership, Manish Sisodia said that, the works of the Aam Aadmi Party governments in Delhi and Punjab are visible in the country. In view of this, a new energy is awakening in the country. Kejriwal ji himself had appealed to the people after the Punjab elections that if anyone did not work on education and other issues, then they should come forward and join us.
I am glad that this initiative is visible in Karnataka also and senior IPS officer of Karnataka Bhaskar Rao is leaving his job and joining our party. He kept on coming to Delhi during the job of IPS and was happy to see the work here.
He further told that, before joining the party, he was the Police Commissioner of Bangalore and during COVID when he saw the failure of the governments, he took the command of serving the public while doing a police job. They did what the governments had to do.
Actually Bhaskar Rao resigned from his post in September 2021 and the Government of Karnataka has accepted his resignation on 1 April 2022. A Bengaluru native, Rao has previously served as Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City Police, Bengaluru Rural SP and Commissioner, Transport Department.
After this, Bhaskar Rao, while speaking in front of the media, said that, I have not done a job in Delhi, but I am giving lectures in the job of 32 years, I have also worked in the army. I saw a change in Delhi, many of my colleagues would work here. One day I saw a Delhi school and I could not believe that a government school could be like this.
A common person needs a good education and health, which Kejriwal ji has done very well. He has come this far with great struggles and am very impressed with his life. He always talks about honesty, seeing this people of Punjab were also impressed. And in Karnataka also the common man now wants change.
He further said that, people always change in Karnataka but the situation remains the same but the changes it has brought in the party system, especially in the center of education. Similar government is needed all over India.
After his joining the party, it is being speculated that Bhaskar Rao may contest the 2023 assembly elections from Basavanagudi seat of Bangalore. Bhaskar Rao comes from the Brahmin caste, so the party will try its best to reach out to the voters of a particular caste through him.
