Mumbai. The Dindoshi Sessions Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to Union MSME Minister Narayan Rane and his MLA son Nitesh Rane in a complaint lodged with Malvani police station. Rane – (both from the Bharatiya Janata Party) had moved the Sessions Court after the Mumbai Police filed a complaint against him in the Disha Salian case.
Soon after the anticipatory bail order was passed, Nitesh Rane accused the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government of conspiring to pressurize him, but the court ruled in his favour.
Rane Jr. said, “In a democracy, it is the duty of the elected representatives to raise their voice wherever there is injustice. We will do whatever is necessary to bring justice to Disha Salian.”
Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s business associate Disha Salian is said to have committed suicide on June 8, 2020. A week later, Singh was also found dead at his Bandra home, triggering a major political controversy.
Nitesh Rane alleged that things started going against Shiv Sena’s Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar after she met her parents Satish and Vasanti Salian at her Mumbai home on February 22.
“We have been told that Mumbai Police has prepared a list targeting several BJP leaders. Our demand is to check the CDR records of Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey,” he said.
He said that during the 9-hour interrogation, the Mumbai Police team wanted to know from where they got the evidence and why it was not being handed over to the police.
Nitesh Rane said, “However, we told the police that we will provide all the evidence to the Central Bureau of Investigation.”
Last month, BJP state president Chandrakant Patil and Rane had threatened to do a ‘mega-expose’ to solve the mystery behind Disha Salian’s death.
Earlier, Narayan Rane had claimed that Disha Salian was killed as she knew some ‘secret’ and raised doubts over the probe into her death, but the Salian family retorted saying that the Mumbai Police had done their best. The investigation has been completed and the family is now trying to move on.
Expressing strong displeasure over the way their daughter’s death is being exploited by ‘some leaders’ (of the BJP), the Salian couple warned that if politics did not stop, they would take ‘some drastic steps’, For which only the politician will be responsible.
She submitted a complaint to Maharashtra State Commission for Women (CSCW) chairperson Rupali Chakankar, who assured an inquiry and later Malwani police registered a case against Narayan and Nitesh Rane.
