Bangalore. The Karnataka Police has registered an FIR against a man for blackmailing his female friend and threatening to reveal her HIV positive status and extorting money from her. This information was given by the police on Tuesday. According to the information, the 42-year-old victim lodged a complaint at the HSR Layout police station in Bengaluru, after which the police arrested the accused K. Started a search operation against Arun Kumar. According to the police, the victim met the accused while working together in a social organization.
She met him in 2020 and the two became good friends. When the victim shared with him that she was HIV positive, the accused allegedly demanded money from her. After this he started blackmailing the woman and also stole her gold chain worth Rs 2.8 lakh.
The accused informed his close relatives about the woman being HIV positive, which hurt the woman. When the woman questioned the man about this, he entered the woman’s house and assaulted her. The victim told the police that he had also threatened to make her homeless and rape her daughter.
The police booked the accused under sections 355 of the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017, IPC for insulting and assaulting any person, 384 for extortion, 504 for willful breach of the peace and 506 for criminal intimidation. A case has been registered under Further investigation is on.
