This incident happened on the day of International Women’s Day. According to Vansh, on March 8, women Congress workers gathered at a ground in Gandhinagar were allegedly assaulted by some policemen. These workers were opposing the ruling BJP government on the issue of women’s safety.
The MLA had also raised the issue of a mob attack on a woman police sub-inspector (SI) in the Karanj area of Ahmedabad on March 8 in the court premises. He claimed that despite the attack on a woman SI, the police did not take any action against the culprits.
When the Speaker rejected their demand for discussion saying that there was no tradition of declaring Zero Hour in the House, Vansh walked out along with eight-nine MLAs, including Jiniben Thakor, Shiva Bhuria and Amrish Der.
