Under this scheme, home owners are being given ‘Property Card’ after survey. Now the beneficiaries will have a legal document of ownership of their houses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the Swamitva scheme as a historic step for the villages of India.
Benefits of ownership plan
Now with the availability of ‘Property Card’ people will be able to take loan from banks by showing it. If state governments wish, they can fix circle rates in those areas. Buying and selling of land will become easier. This will benefit the government in revenue. It can also be used in local area development. According to a report, only 19 percent of the property tax that should be collected by Gram Panchayats is collected. These figures are for the year 2028. Now after this scheme it is expected that this tax will also increase. The scheme was started by handing over the legal documents of their houses to one lakh beneficiaries from Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Its work is going on in a total of 763 districts across the country.
