Gwalior Water Supply News: Gwalior, Naiduniya Representative. Water Treatment Plant at Jalalpur has been made operational. On Saturday, water tanks located in the city were filled with a 1000 mm diameter pipeline. With the commissioning of this plant, the quantity of water supplied from Tigra Dam has been increased by 30 percent. Earlier, 220 MLD (Million Liter Day) water was released from Tighra, this figure has now reached 340 MLD. At present, the water level of Tighra is 734.30 feet, that is, 3320 mcft of water is inside Tighra. This water can quench the thirst of the residents by leaving one day till October 2022.
Now the supply from Tighra will increase further: At present, about 10 MCFT water is being supplied to Gwalior every day from Tighra. Before the Jalalpur Water Treatment Plant was commissioned, 6 to 6.5 mcft of water was supplied to the city. After April, the water supply in the city used to increase from six mcft to about eight mcft. Jalalpur plant has not yet been started at full capacity. When it is fully operational, the water consumption will increase by 30 percent to 400 MLD.

Load will be reduced on Motijheel plant: Water was supplied to the city from the old and new water treatment plants at Matijheel. Because of this, the Motijheel plant used to run continuously. Now with the commissioning of Jalalpur Water Treatment Plant, the pressure of Motijheel Plant will be reduced.

Sufficient quantity of water is available in Tighara reservoir, at present water is also coming to Tighara through canal. There will be no water crisis this summer. At present, during the testing of drinking water supply in the city, the lines have not been made operational at full capacity. As the testing is completed, the water consumption will also increase accordingly.
