Tata Nexon Coupe SUV : Country’s leading automaker Tata Motors has several new products in the pipeline in its ICE and electric segment portfolio, while it has been the domestic manufacturer’s Nexon best-selling SUV for some time now, with its petrol model costing around Rs 8 lakh. To begin with, the news is that the company is working on a coupe based on it to capitalize on the popularity of the Nexon.
There is no official word about the Nexon-based coupe version at the moment, but experts believe that the upcoming midsize SUV will share some body panels and other bits with the Nexon. Despite this, its front and rear design will be very different. Along with this, this coupe SUV will be given a slim roof and a large overhang.
This coupe will come in all three versions of petrol, diesel and electric
Talking about the engine, under the bonnet, a new 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine will be used. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is sourced from Nexon’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged Revotron unit that churns out 120 PS of maximum power and 170 Nm of peak torque. At the same time, it will be able to deliver 160 PS of power in this coupe.
Also the 1.5-litre four-cylinder oil-burner can be sourced from the Revotorq found in the Nexon, and it currently produces 110 PS and 260 Nm. We expect it to be equipped with both manual and automatic transmissions. If the report is to be believed, initially the Tata Nexon Coupe SUV will be offered with an electric powertrain only. It could be launched with a larger 40kWh battery pack, which would be capable of delivering a range of over 400km on a single charge.
