In the midst of the Russo-Ukraine war, India has once again advocated for a solution through dialogue. India has said that no problem can be solved by shedding the blood of innocent people. Addressing the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), India’s Permanent Representative TS Tirumurti said that women and children suffer the most during any kind of military action.
He said that such reports are coming from Ukraine that a large number of women and children are being forced to leave their homes and lead a refugee life. He said that about 44 lakh people have so far left Ukraine and gone to neighboring countries, while about 7 million people are inside Ukraine who are forced to live under the shadow of fear.
Referring to the impact of the Russo-Ukraine war on India, TS Tirumurti said that we should also not forget that the war has put the careers of many foreign students in jeopardy, which includes India. He said that after the start of the war, about 22,500 Indian children have been taken out of different universities in Ukraine and taken to India.
TS Tirumurti said that India stands with peace, dialogue and diplomacy amid the Ukraine dispute. Significantly, Russia attacked Ukraine on 24 February and now the seventh week of war between the two countries is going on. Ukraine claims that ten thousand Ukrainian civilians have been killed so far in Russia’s attack.
