In view of the ever-increasing cases of corona virus infection, the Union Home Ministry has decided to remove all restrictions related to corona from March 31, after two years. However, the rules of wearing a mask and maintaining a safe distance will remain in force. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said in a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all the states that in 24 months various aspects of management of the global pandemic, such as disease detection, surveillance, tracing of people who came in contact with the infected, treatment, vaccination, Several important steps were taken regarding the development of hospital infrastructure etc.
He said that at the same time, now the general public is also quite aware about the proper behavior required to deal with Corona. Bhalla wrote in the letter that the states and union territories have also developed their capabilities and systems and implemented their detailed specific plans for the management of the global pandemic. There has been a huge drop in the number of new cases in seven weeks.
Bhalla has written in a letter to the states that after taking into account the situation of the dwindling outbreak of the global epidemic and the preparedness of the government, the National Disaster Management Authority has decided that the provisions of the DM Act for Corona prevention measures should be implemented. There’s no need anymore. According to him, the period of the applicable rules is expiring on March 31 and after that no further order will be issued in this regard by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He said that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to continue with some measures to deal with Corona, such as wearing masks and keeping hands clean. Bhalla said that therefore all states and union territories are advised to consider appropriately removing the orders and guidelines under the DM Act, 2005 for corona prevention measures.
