Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann took oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab on Wednesday. Bhagwant Mann is the second youngest Chief Minister of Punjab. Aam Aadmi Party had made Bhagwant Mann as CM candidate in Punjab elections. According to the tenure, Bhagwant Mann will be the 25th CM of Punjab.
After taking oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann said, “There is a special reason to come here. Earlier swearing-in was done in the palaces. Now the swearing-in ceremony has come to the martyrs’ village. Remember those who gave us this country, only on 23rd March and 28th September we have to remember a little. They live in our hearts.”
Bhagwant Mann further said, “This village is not new to me and I have come here many times before. Many births will have to be taken to take off this love of the people. Bhagwat Mann said that those who did not vote are their chief ministers and this is their government too.
The swearing-in ceremony started an hour late. Earlier, the event was to be held at 12.30 pm. Apart from Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal, many party leaders were present in this function.
Bhagwant Mann started his career as a comedian. Mann was a successful comedian before joining politics. Bhagwant Mann went as a participant in ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’, where in front of him was cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu in the judge’s chair. This comedy show became quite popular.
Interestingly, in the Punjab elections, Bhagwant Mann and then Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu were the opposing camp. It is a coincidence that the show in which Bhagwant Mann was present as a contestant in front of Sidhu and the same Bhagwant Mann managed to reach the chair of CM of the state by defeating Sidhu and his party on the political ground of Punjab.
