While promoting Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, Sonia Gandhi has handed over the command of media and publicity department. Pawan Kheda was said to be angry due to the Congress high command’s neglect in the Rajya Sabha elections.
Pawan Khera himself had tweeted about his displeasure. Kheda had said after the announcement of the ticket that there might have been some deficiency in his penance. Actually, Pawan Khera has often been seen on TV keeping the side of Congress firmly. After which he hoped that the party would send him to the Rajya Sabha, but when the names were announced, his name was not included in the list.
Now Pawan Khera has been appointed as the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Cell of the New Communications Department. The official press release issued by the Congress said- “The Congress President has approved the appointment of Pawan Khera as the Chairman of Media and Publicity in the new Department of Communications with immediate effect.” At the same time, after this announcement, Pawan Kheda said- “I thank Honorable Congress President Sonia Gandhi, my leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi”.

Kheda, who was once the political secretary of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, has been considered a special part of the Congress high command. These days, Kheda’s name comes in the top list of the spokespersons on whom Congress trusts the most. Along with TV, Pawan Khera has also been seen many times in the big press conferences of the party headquarters.
Kheda getting this post is being considered as an attempt to quell his displeasure with the Rajya Sabha elections. Kheda was seen at the fore in several demonstrations in the recent past. Even when the ED was interrogating Rahul Gandhi, Kheda was seen ahead.
Let us inform that earlier, Jairam Ramesh was appointed in-charge of Congress Communication Department in place of Randeep Surjewala. In a three-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ in Udaipur last month, the party had resolved to revive the communication and media department so that the party could further improve its engagement with the people.
