Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking permission to visit Singapore. Let us inform that Delhi CM Kejriwal was invited by Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong to meet in Delhi on June 1 and visit Singapore. In such a situation, a file was sent to the Lieutenant Governor on behalf of the Delhi government for political clearance to attend the World Cities Summit in Singapore.
Let us tell you that the reply to this file sent by the Delhi government three weeks ago did not come till the end of June. In such a situation, CM Kejriwal wrote a letter telling him to stop the permission to go to Singapore, it is wrong.
What is written in the letter: In the letter, CM Kejriwal has written that an invitation has been received from the Singapore government to present the Delhi model in the world-class conference. In this, the Delhi model has to be presented in front of many big leaders around the world. Today the whole world wants to know about the Delhi model. It is a matter of pride and honor for the country.
Kejriwal wrote that it is against the interest of the country not to allow a Chief Minister to attend such an important stage. So allow me to go to Singapore as soon as possible, so that I can make the country proud.
Even before this permission was not obtained: Let us tell you that Kejriwal’s concern about going to Singapore is because earlier in 2019 also he had gone abroad to speak on the issue of environment. But political clearance could not be obtained on this. On this, the central government said that this summit is of mayor level, it is not appropriate for the Chief Minister to attend it.
What is the protocol: According to the officials, the CM of Delhi has to follow the ‘protocol’ made for any foreign travel. In this, any minister, including the Chief Minister, has to take permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs to travel abroad on an official basis. For this, the file reaches the Ministry of Home Affairs through the office of the Lieutenant Governor.
