On the official website of UIDAI, the facility of correction, updating and adding other information is given on the Aadhar card. Users can change details such as name, address, phone number and e-mail address by visiting the official website of UIDAI or visiting the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre.
On the other hand, if you have recently got married and you want to update your name in your Aadhaar, then you can change it through online. There is no need to go anywhere for this. This work can be done sitting at home. Or if there is any mistake in your name, you can still change it. Here is the step by step process how you can change your name in your Aadhaar.
- First of all, you have to go to the official website of Aadhaar, uidai.gov.in.
- After that go to ‘Update Demographics Data Online’ in My Aadhar section.
- Now a new tab will open, in which click on the option ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’.
- Now you have to enter Aadhar number and captcha code. After which OTP will be sent.
- After entering the OTP sent to the registered mobile number, click on ‘Update Demographics Data’.
- Now select what you want to change.
- Along with this, you will also have to upload the documents. For example, you need to submit a scanned copy of the proof of identity like PAN, Passport etc.
- Once the documents are uploaded and correct details are entered, you will be redirected to make the payment.
Once the payment is done, an Update Request Number (URN) will be generated. You can also download your acknowledgment copy.
Name can also be changed offline
- Visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre.
- You need to carry the original copies of your supporting documents to the centre.
- You will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 for the offline name change process.
